Christmas is around the corner and you are yet to start planning your Christmas marketing campaign? Don’t worry.
Even if we might not be able to build a full scale Christmas marketing campaign in such a short time, we can definitely figure out at least 3 quick-to-implement marketing ideas.
Now, before we check out the ideas, a snippet of 3 Holiday Marketing levels:
The Vegan Marketer’s Holiday Marketing Levels:
Level 1- Message level:
Keep product, packaging and promotions the same. Only change the message (especially via digital marketing or social media)
Something along the lines of “Our vegan brand wishes you a Merry Christmas” or ” New Year. New beginning. Why not give vegan products a shot?”
Level 2- Promotion level:
Announce holiday season discounts, contests or offers and focus most of your communications around those.
Level 3- The 6Ps level:
Go thematic across the board. Themed limited edition products, themed packaging, themed communication, themed uniform, themed location (e.g. selling through holiday themed magazine perhaps). As I said, everything.
Ps: Higher the level, earlier the planning and prep needed, higher the spends and chances of wastage.
As per this, considering the number of days left, we should focus our efforts towards the first level of holiday marketing i.e. at the message level. So here goes…
3 Quick-to-implement Christmas Marketing Ideas for Vegan Products
1. Playlist Greeting Card i.e. Impromptu DIY Party
With each unit of your vegan product, share a thematic greeting card (preferably handwritten) containing a QR code. The QR code should lead to a thematic playlist that sets the mood for the customer to enjoy your product and enjoy the festivities.
E.g. If yours is a vegan dessert brand, with every pastry you sell, hand out an elegant Christmas themed card containing the QR code.
On scanning the code, a music playlist pops up containing songs that are perfect to listen to while enjoying your brand’s dessert. The message could be : ‘Great dessert + Great music + Christmas cheer = Party time!!! You deserve this *Brand name* party, my friend. Merry Christmas’.
2. Personalized Video/ Audio Wish:
Nothing feels festive like happy festive wishes. For a limited duration, surprise every person/ TG that comments or DMs on your social media (or within each purchase receipt you email out).
Reply to each comment/ DM with a personalized video wish from your entire team. E.g. “Hey, thank you for your message. All of us here at *Brand Name* wish you a very Merry Christmas, *customer name*”.
Since yours is a vegan brand, if possible, take the team video/gif surrounded by barnyard animals (perhaps at a shelter).
This has tremendous social sharing potential because brands don’t usually do such personalization.
Video tip: A simple way to do it is to record the rest of the video before hand. Then record a 1-2 second clip of just one team member saying the customer’s name. Merge the two clips and send.
Gif tip: If video is not possible, then do gif. E.g. Your entire team surrounded by animals waves a banner with copy saying “All of us thank you for being awesome, *customer name*! Merry Christmas!”
3. Surprise delivery
Imagine the surprise of randomly selected customers if their DTC order gets delivered by Santa Claus!!
Select 2-3 separate localities within your city. Hire a Santa Claus to do the last-mile delivery from his bulging red bag for randomly selected customers, even some that have ordered only a single, low value item.
Yet again, the time, effort, money investment for this will be relatively low but the ROI in terms of social shares and virality can be huge.
Plus, it can really make your customer’s day and perhaps make them a brand fan for life 😀
Question to think about: 💡
Should you plan surprises only during festive times or should you throw random 1:1 surprises year round? What would keep the engagement and brand buzz high?
I am just an email away, should you want to talk. You know that, right?
